Brenda L. Butler is a retired Library Technician who now writes full-time. She studied creative writing at Athabasca University, completing her B.A. in 2022. She is a member of two writing organizations: Ottawa Independent Writers and the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild. In her writing, Brenda draws on family and personal experience to explore issues of mental illness and generational trauma.
Her debut novel, Through Winds of Prairie Dust, is now available from Gelassenheit Publications. Excerpts of Through Winds of Prairie Dust have been published in Quagmire Literary Journal and long-listed for the Pulp Literature "First Page Cage Match" 2023.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Brenda spent thirty years living in the Yukon before moving to Ottawa with her husband and their golden retriever.
